In the financial year 2020, BNP Paribas India Foundation collaborated with the Centre for Environmental Research & Education (CERE), to undertake mass tree plantations in the metropolitan cities of India.

The plantation of 3,000 trees was started in September 2020 and continued until March 2021. The plantation techniques included the Traditional plantation method where saplings were planted at a minimum of 6-8 ft distance and the Intense/Dense technique.

45 unique native / naturalised species were planted at 4 different locations –

  • Alibag – Kankeshwar Foothills, Maharashtra Forest Department Land
  • Chennai – Siruseri, SIPCOT, Open Space Reservation (OSR) Land
  • Titwala – Rewati, Maharashtra Forest Department Land
  • Kalyan – Wildlife Rescue Center, Shilphata, Kalyan

The species included Saag, Bahava, Khair, Shirish, Neem, Sawar, Bhokar, Wad, Peepal, Karanj, Ritha, Jamun, etc.
