Beyond the act of tree planting, CERE extends its services to corporations, providing them with the opportunity to leverage CERE’s plantation auditing and geotagging services. These services encompass the issuance of Carbon Sequestration Certificates to sponsoring companies. CERE employs a thorough approach to calculate carbon sequestration, considering factors such as the specific tree species, sapling age, projected growth rates, and any mortality at a given site.
This comprehensive assessment adds significant value to afforestation projects and includes:
➢ Species-specific assessment of carbon sequestration using a science-based methodology.
➢ Field visits and geotagging of a statistically significant sample of the plantation to determine survival rates.
➢ Assessment of the 15-year cumulative carbon sequestration potential of a plantation, focusing on native Indian woody species. The issued Carbon Sequestration Certificate reflects the sponsor company’s estimated CO2 sequestration in metric tonnes over the 15-year lifespan of the plantation.
➢ Evaluation of other aspects of the plantation, including identifying potential risks, species selection, promotion of native species, and guidance for future.
CERE has collaborated with over seven companies to assess their afforestation efforts. In conjunction with their partner entities, our clients have planted more than 7,00,00 saplings, with the CERE team geotagging over 1,60,000 of them.
